When it comes to gameday, everyone knows that the food has to be top-notch! To help ensure that your guests are more than satisfied on game day, nothing quite says victory like a good cigar. All your favorite Cuban sandwich flavors rolled up in a pork chop and wrapped in bacon… Enough said! Try this out at your next tailgate or for the Big Game.
Bacon wrapped Cuban Cigars are an easy and delicious way to elevate your gameday menu. With just a few ingredients and steps, you can quickly and easily create a truly memorable dish that your guests will love!
Ingredients:
- Cubano Rub
- Southbound Sauce
- 2 pounds of boneless pork chops, thin sliced preferred
- 12 oz pack of regular or thin cut bacon
- 6 oz sliced deli ham
- 6 slices of swiss cheese
- thin cut pickle slices, any variety
- yellow or deli mustard
Instructions:
1. Preheat grill/smoker to 275 degrees F.
2. Using a meat mallet, pound out each pork chop to 1/8” thick or as thin as you can go with out the pork chop falling apart.
3. Spread a thin layer of mustard on one side of each chop, then layer ham, cheese, and pickle on top of the mustard.
4. Roll each chop as tightly as possible and then wrap with 1-2 slices of bacon until completely covered. Season with Cubano Rub to taste.
5. Grill for 30-45 minutes, or until internal temp reaches 135 degrees F. Brush each roll with Southbound Sauce and cook for an additional 10-15 minutes or until internal temp has reached at least 145 degrees.
6. Let rest for 5-10 minutes. Serve with additional Southbound Sauce or your favorite mustard for dipping.
Recipe Note
If cooking in the oven, set the oven temp to 375 degrees and let cook for 20-25 minutes or until the internal temp of the cuban cigars reaches 135 degrees.
