Lanes BBQ – Nashville Hot Crab Cakes

Lanes BBQ – Nashville Hot Crab Cakes

Seafood Summer just got SPICY! Nashville hot crab cakes are a delectable fusion of traditional Southern cuisine and coastal delicacies from the Atlantic. These exquisitely crafted appetizers encapsulate the essence of Nashville’s renowned hot chicken, as they incorporate the iconic spicy flavor profile into succulent crab cakes. The crab meat, known for its delicate sweetness and tender texture, is paired with a harmonious blend of seasonings known as Lane’s Nashville Hot rub to create heat that tantalizes the taste buds without overpowering the natural attributes of the crustacean. The crab cake is carefully formed with precision and fried to perfection, resulting in a crispy exterior and moist interior. The addition of buttery biscuit breadcrumbs adds an enticing hint of richness to each bite. Served alongside creamy dill sauce or refreshing slaw, these Nashville hot crab cakes showcase culinary innovation while paying homage to both Southern and seafood traditions.

Ingredients:

  • Lane’s Nashville Hot rub
  • 1 tbsp W sauce
  • 1 lb. jumbo lump or claw crabmeat
  • ¾ cup leftover biscuit bread crumbs
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 2 tbls. Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbls. fresh chopped parsley

Instructions:

1. In a small bowl, combine all ingredients. Use 2 tsp of Nashville Hot or more if you like it spicier. Add crab meat last and fold gently to avoid breaking up the crab meat.

2. Rest mixture in the refrigerator for 20 – 30 minutes.

3. Preheat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat, then add enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan. Add in 1 tbls. of butter(optional) for added flavor.

4. Form crab cakes by hand and sear for 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy.

5. Shake on some more Nashville Hot rub to taste as soon as they come out of the pan and enjoy!

Recipe Note

1. If you’re spice sensitive, use Garlic2 instead of Nashville Hot for a more traditional crab cake
2. Serve with Sorta White, tartar, or creamy dill sauce
3. You can use panko or crushed crackers instead of biscuit bread crumbs
