Dan-O’s – Reuben Smash Burger

Get ready to experience a Dan-twist on a classic favorite with these Reuben Smash Burgers! Combining the savory flavors of corned beef and crispy bacon, this recipe elevates the traditional Reuben sandwich into a juicy burger that’s sure to impress. When making the patties, don’t rush the grinding process; a uniform blend makes all the difference in texture. Be sure to sauté the sauerkraut to remove excess moisture, giving your burgers the perfect balance of flavors. And for an extra touch, feel free to add more special sauce and sauerkraut during assembly.

Ingredients:

For the Burger Patties

For the Special Sauce

For Assembly

  • Sauerkraut (to taste)
  • Slices of Swiss cheese
  • Burger buns (for toasting)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Meat Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the corned beef chunks and bacon chunks.
Season generously with Dan-O’s Original and Dan-O’s Preem-O®, mixing well to ensure even distribution.
Pass the meat mixture through a meat grinder twice to achieve a uniform blend.

2. Form the Patties: Cut parchment paper into small squares. Take a third-pound ball of the meat mixture and place it in the center of a parchment square. Using a smooth-bottomed plate, flatten the ball into a thin patty. Set aside and repeat until all the mixture is shaped into patties.

3. Make the Special Sauce: In a bowl, combine diced pickles, Duke’s mayonnaise, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and Dan-O’s Original. Mix well and set aside.

4. Cook the Burgers: Preheat your Blackstone or griddle until hot. Add sauerkraut to the griddle and sauté briefly to remove moisture. Toast the burger buns on the griddle for about 45 seconds or until lightly browned. Add a little oil to the griddle, then remove the parchment paper from each patty and place the patties on the griddle. Cook the patties for about 60 seconds until they start to brown. Flip each patty and top with a spoonful of sauerkraut.

5. Add Cheese and Sauce: Spread the special sauce evenly over each patty. Place a slice of Swiss cheese on top of each patty. Close the griddle lid and turn off the heat, allowing the burgers to rest for about a minute until the cheese melts.

6. Assemble the Burgers: Place the cooked patties with melted cheese on the toasted buns. Optionally, add more sauerkraut and special sauce as desired.

7. Enjoy your Dantastic Reuben Smash Burgers with your favorite sides!
