Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp Dan-O’s Crunchy™ Seasoning
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (4 oz.) cream cheese, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • sliced chives for garnish

Instructions:

1. Heat a large skillet on medium heat. Add the butter and once melted, stir in the oil.

2. Now toss in your onions and hit ’em with about 1/2 teaspoon of salt.

3. Let those onions cook down, stirring every so often, until they start softenin’ up—that’ll take about 10 to 12 minutes. Then, drop that heat to medium-low and let the magic happen! Keep stirrin’ here and there, and give it some time—about 40 to 55 minutes. You’re lookin’ for that deep, rich caramelized color. If you’ve got some Dan-O’s Preem-O®, sprinkle with a little of that for an extra pop of flavor.

4. Once you’ve hit that golden goodness, transfer those beauties to a bowl and let ’em cool completely.

5. Set a large spoonful of onions aside for the garnish.

6. Stir in the cream cheese, sour cream, and Dan-O’s Crunchy.

7. Sprinkle with chives if you got ’em and the onions you saved. Serve with chips, crusty bread, or veggies.
