Burnpitbbq – Grilled BBQ Chicken Skewers – Easy 4th of July Recipe

There’s no better way to celebrate the 4th of July than with the smell of charcoal in the air, a cold drink in hand, and something bold sizzling on the grill. If you’re looking for a simple, crowd-pleasing recipe that delivers serious flavor without a ton of prep, these grilled BBQ chicken skewers are your answer.

Seasoned with our All Ration Rub, these skewers pack smoky, savory heat and caramelize beautifully over the fire. They’re easy to make, quick to cook, and perfect for backyard cookouts, camp grills, or tailgate parties. Whether you’re feeding a hungry crew or just want to fire up the grill with purpose, this one gets the job done.

So grab your skewers, crack a beverage, and let’s light it up this Independence Day.

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into 1.5-inch cubes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2–3 tbsp Burn Pit BBQ All Ration Rub (or your favorite Burn Pit BBQ seasoning)
  • Optional: 1 red bell pepper and 1 red onion, chopped into chunks
  • Skewers (wooden or metal)

Instructions:

1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 400°F).

2. In a large bowl, toss the chicken with olive oil and Burn Pit BBQ rub until evenly coated.

3. Thread chicken (and optional veggies) onto skewers.

4. Grill for 10–12 minutes, turning occasionally, until internal temp hits 165°F and there’s nice char.

5. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Tips and Tricks

Soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes before grilling to avoid burning.
If using chicken breasts, don’t overcook—thighs are more forgiving and stay juicy.
Want extra flavor? Marinate the chicken in the rub and oil for 1–2 hours beforehand.
